An extraordinary feeling of light and space is created by the seven French windows leading off the spectacular sitting room area and its classic open plan design. With a striking “Venetian tower”, containing two of the three bedrooms, makes Etolikos a much admired and incredibly sought after property with rare sea frontage. Moreover, in the stunning open-plan sitting room area dominates a traditional Corfiot fireplace. The room is beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas and armchairs creating a room for all seasons. It offers a particularly cosy ambience in the Spring and in Autumn, when the nights can be cooler. A wrap-around terrace that is almost integral with the inside living space, has sumptuous day beds, sun loungers and chairs with spectacular views of the sea, sky, Kaparelli Island and of the Albanian mountains across the channel. All in all, the covered loggia, BBQ and the large oval dining table seating eight, ensures that this brilliant combination of integral inside and outside living is the natural gathering point and the perfect entertaining space, enabling guests to drift inside and out with ease.

.

In addition, the elegant and beautiful design of the kitchen, separates it from the sitting room area by a stunning black granite topped island which in turn provides the perfect Mediterranean living and an entertaining space with a high degree of comfort. Also, a guests' cloakroom and a charmingly decorated bedroom, with its own ensuite bathroom and shower, pretty beamed ceilings and access to its own private terrace completes the ground floor accommodation. The staircase leads up from the sitting room to the two exquisitely interior designed “Venetian tower” bedrooms with the Venetian feel further enhanced by the pretty beamed ceilings. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and shower.

The landscaped garden area surrounding this luxury villa for holiday rental in Corfu is cleverly designed not to look artificial or contrived and is surrounded by beautiful natural rock features, shrubs, flora and indigenous maquis. The grounds are inter-planted with cypress, oak, judas trees, carob, pomegranates, olives and other indigenous vegetation. From the pool terrace, some beautiful stone steps and a pathway weaves its way down the jetty, which guests can use for mooring a speedboat or tender from a larger boat, or for sea bathing! The views from Etolikos are just as spectacular as those of its neighbour Cassiopeia, yet being closer to the sea and with the sound of the waves lapping below, you get even more of the feeling of “being on a boat”.

Location

Kassiopi, Corfu

The contour of the coast is adorned with rocky hills, abundant olive and cypress trees and cradled by crystal clear azure waters. Resting in this imposing setting is the village of Kassiopi, the largest village found in the north-east. Situated 37km from Corfu town, Kassiopi is the perfect spot for you to venture to the northern part of Corfu. Traditionally, Kassiopi used to be a typical fishing village but nowadays it has developed into a vibrant destination, without losing any of its idyllic character and picturesque charm. Its small harbor, at the heart of the town, is home to taverns, where you can savor fresh fish, caught daily by the locals, and lights up during the night when cafes and cute bars come to life. Walking along Kassiopi’s narrow streets you will find small shops and several choices for dining and enjoying a drink. For this reason, Kassiopi remains a family-friendly, yet lively, destination, thanks to its charming nightlife. Built on the site where an ancient roman settlement used to stand, Kassiopi also exhibits quite interesting bits of history. The remains of an old Venetian fortress can still be seen today, lying across the side of the hill. From here it is easy to reach other nearby beaches, mostly pebbled, within small coves. The beaches of Avlaki and Kalamionas are at a walking distance from Kassiopi. But Kassiopi also offers the opportunity for truly enjoyable drives while admiring the lush setting, with pristine beaches and picturesque villages to be found along the way. Heading east, you will come across the beach of Agios Stefanos, a small fishing village with a peaceful atmosphere, resting on the base of gentle hills. Here you will find traditional taverns and pure shallow waters. Passing through Agios Stefanos, the beach of Kerasia is also worth a stop. Further south, about 7km from Kassiopi, is the area of Kalami, a place of unique natural beauty offering a calm and serene environment. It is the place where British novelist Lawrence Durrell used to live and the setting that probably inspired his initial writings. If you choose to head further north from Kassiopi, you might want to visit the beach of Bataria. An amazing and quite secluded spot of wild natural beauty and clear waters, covered in pebbles, ideal if you seek for some privacy. Last but not least, and moving away from the shore, nestled in the mountain is the village of Old Perithia; an abandoned village with a nostalgic feel, where it is almost as if time stood still. It also has some of the best taverns in the island where you can taste traditional Corfiot cuisine. Walk around the abandoned stone houses and let your imagination revive moments of a forgotten time right before your eyes.
